This category of pigeons is famous for their crest of lacy feathers on their head. Victoria’s Crowned Pigeons are considered as one of the most beautiful birds in the world. They are steel blue and grey in color with maroon plumage. They have red eyes.

Victoria’s Crowned Pigeon are monogamous and mate for life. They get sexually matured at the age of 15 months.  Female usually lay one egg per clutch which both male and female incubate for 30 days.

The young ones develop the wings by 4th week, but the parents continue to feed them till 15 weeks of age. Pigeons and flamingos are the only birds which have the ability to produce milk called crop milk. This secretion is produced by both the sexes. They feed the young ones with this milk for first few days of life.
